Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
The Social Mobilizer will support the implementation of social mobilization and communication activities aimed at the prevention of and response to child protection violations as well as promotion of the Child Protection Case Management and Referral System (CP-CMRS).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Organize adolescent and child groups and engaging them in the prevention of child protection issues including self-protection and life skills.
- Establish community-based child protection committees as per the approved TORs and provide mentoring and coaching support to these committees.
- Engage with communities to raise awareness about prevention of child protection violations and linking with child protection response services being provided by District Child Protection Unit (DCPU).
- Facilitate community-based communication campaigns and outreach activities to promote protective behaviors and social norms.
- Actively involve community members in identifying child protection risks and promoting solutions and linking with DCPU.
- Build relationships with local leaders, community members, and stakeholders to encourage their participation in child protection activities.
- Conduct regular community visits to assess needs and report any child protection concerns.
- Provide basic counselling, such as listening, offering empathy, and creating a safe space for individuals to talk.
- Offer psychological first aid in emergency situations.
- Offer psychological first aid and trauma-informed care to child survivor of abuse, violence, exploitation, neglect and harmful practices.
- Ensure culturally appropriate interventions are used when providing emotional support.
- Prepare and submit timely reports on social mobilization activities, cases handled, and outcomes achieved.
- Participate in regular meetings with the child protection team and other stakeholders to review progress and address challenges.
- Conduct training and awareness sessions for parents, caregivers, and community members on child protection issues this will include the rollout of the positive parenting package and the package for the strengthening of the community-based child protection committees.
- Support the development and distribution of educational materials aimed at child abuse prevention and response.
- Act as a resource for community members seeking information or assistance related to child protection.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in child protection, social work, counseling, or community-based programs.
- Experience working with children and families in crisis situations.
- Social Mobilizer: (6 Male, 6 Female- 3 for each location).
- The local of Muzaffarabad and Rawalakot will be given preference
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of child protection principles, including case management and referral mechanisms.
- Ability to work in a culturally sensitive manner.
- Language: Proficiency in local language in AJK, Urdu and English.
